The Major Sports Teams in LA

Although the team did not qualify for the postseason in 2013, it marked the 11th straight year in which its franchise drew over 3 million fans in attendance.

The LA Galaxy

This is an American professional soccer franchise that is based in Carson, a suburb of Los Angeles and competes in Major League Soccer as a Western Conference league member. Officially, this club began playing in 1996 and has ever since grown to become one of the most decorated clubs in the league.

It has won the MLS Cup a record 5 times, the Supporters’ Shield 4 times, and the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup 2 times. Initially, the Galaxy played its home games at Rose Bowl in Pasadena, but moved to StubHub Center in Carson in 2003. The Los Angeles Clippers

This is a Los Angeles-based professional basketball team. They compete in the National Basketball Association as a Western Conference Pacific Division league member club. They play their home games at Staples Center. This franchise was established in 1970 and referred to as the Buffalo Braves. In 1978, the team moved to San Diego where they were rebranded to San Diego Clippers. Finally, in 1984, they moved to Los Angeles and hence the name Los Angeles Clippers. Thanks to the acquisition of core players in the early 2010s, the club’s fortunes turned around and they won their first division title in 2013.
